I haven't cast on yet!!!! I was sort of wondering why everyone was starting already. I just knew I wouldn't have time to cast on until Monday. I am just trying to figure out my math right now! lol
I'm sorry, Marnie!
I was bored out of my skull - everyone bailed on Dag practice today, and all my kids had gone places either for the day or overnight. It was either cast on or fold laundry. What would you have done?
Besides, I won't have a chance to knit again (after tomorrow)until Thursday. You'd all be done with your sweaters by then! LOL!
I am figuring math and trying to learn the correct cast on. I haven't started yet but I should considering I don't have much time! The second time I read through the whole thing, it sounded a little more like English but I can tell I am still going to need some help. So, at what point in the pattern is the cast on--is that the ends of the arm and the front edges? What yarn are you guys starting with, and how often are you going to change yarns? I have 4 different colors of yarn I can use for this.
morwenna - i'm going to post the wiki on the surprise jacket so you can see where the cast on edge will fall... essentially it will be the cuffs, along the top sleeve in the back and along the back of the neck.
i'm starting with the variegated color and haven't decided when to stripe, yet. i know that i want to finish in the brown for a brown bottom and button band, and i'm thinking to add a fold-over collar in brown, too.
I don't plan my stripes - I just knit with a color until I'm bored, or it looks like it needs something new, and then I switch. Bub's jacket will be pretty much striped throughout, like mine is.
I am not planning my stripes either, Stell. I made Kyra a pinwheel blanket, and I just used whatever I had until I got bored or ran out of the yarn. I am wondering if I have enough of the colors I picked out to complete her jacket, but if I need to, I am sure I can scrounge up some more from my stash.
OH! I had no idea we had a "start date".
Sorry!
I didn't know everyone was waiting. oops!
